The night I’d been waiting for, for months finally arrived! Last night I was able to attend the Design*Sponge book tour and meet the Grace Bonney. She gave a very inspiring speech about her history, the beginnings of Design Sponge, and how it grew over time from blog to book. I was most interested in her inspiration behind many of the elements and columns that were added to the blog and how it’s transitioned through the years. She saw needs that were missing in the industry and created columns and a venue to meet and express these needs. She almost one-handedly helped student design shows become the places to look to for inspiration in the industry. It’s really amazing to see passions turned into concrete ideas that start to shape the industry in new ways. Thanks for that Grace.
