Running a passion-based business with Megan Gilger of the Fresh Exchange

This week we are chatting with Megan Gilger of the Fresh Exchange. We are talking to her about how she has been transitioning her business over the past couple years, how that has been going, and how to live a life that you love. Her and her husband have lived out their twenties building their business and traveling the world. Over the past couple years they have slowed down, had a baby, and are now in a place in their lives where they are truly building the life that they can see themselves living for the next decade.

They are also focusing on living a happy life — where they are at on a daily basis. Instead of focusing on MORE: more money, more traffic, more engagement, etc. They have decided what success means to them, and they are living that out on a regular basis. If you’re ready for a down-to-earth conversation about building a business and working towards enjoying your daily life, this conversation is for you.

Topics we cover:

— Transitioning your business as your life and passions change
— Slowing down in your life, and living out your passions while starting a family
— How to qualify success in your life and business
— Being happy where you’re at, instead of building more and more
— How she grew her business at the height of the recession, and ended up working with her husband and starting a design studio
— Deciding to focus on her passions, and not just what was bringing in the money. Taking ownership over what you really want to do in life and in your business
— The future of the studio and blog
— Working through the tough conversations when you work with your spouse
— Why they decided to move to Michigan, and how it has effected the tone and future of the Fresh Exchange
— Seasonal living
— Not writing when you’re not feeling passionate. And being OK with not posting all the time when it’s just not working.
— Switching her definition of success
